life is different

before i adopted ruby, my life was pretty quiet. i worked a lot, went to the movies regularly, read lots of books (mostly trashy novels), walked the dog, went on vacation. generally it was a life where i could be part of the background scenery most of the time.

enter ruby and all of that changed. suddenly i became very noticeable: a graying caucasian woman with a gorgeous asian baby.i've met some great people that way. since we are a conspicuous family i get into lots of conversations about adoption in general and adoption from china specifically.

interestingly her two best friends from school are both in the process of adopting from china. ruby, mia and sophie are pretty much inseparable. sophie is getting a brother sam, and her mom mindy and i may end up traveling together. we are both with asia, and have known each other since our first adoption. mia is getting a baby sister sometime next year , who as yet is un named.

so since i became a mom, my life has changed a bit. my life is pretty busy, i work as little as i can, i haven't been to a movie in a long time, i still read trashy books, the dog gets walked occasionally and our vacations are simple but fun. i am sure when i am a mom to two, more metamorphism will take place.
