dan zane

dan zane comes to portland once a year, we missed out on last year since we were out of town.

who is dan zane? the former lead singer of the del fuegos, he now fronts a band called dan zane and friends who sing “all ages music”. it’s kids music that doesn’t drive you nuts to listen to. a mix of folk, rock and ethnic songs. we have alot of his cd’s. his pirate songs are in the car and we listen to it often.

i was not really johnny on the spot this year and got tickets too late for the afternoon show. i decided to push our usual to-bed-by-730- boundaries ( the kids not me, at least not normally) and get tickets for the 7 pm show.

i didn’t tell the kids we were going until just before dinner. they were so excited! both decided to wear the elf pajama bottoms ( red and white stripped) and white t shirts. so darn cute. we arrived to a mixed crowd of toddlers, school age kids and hippie yuppie parents. i felt quite at home. we ran into several friends and ended up sitting near the dance area and stage .

as we were going in the door to the show, a man on the street stopped by to ask what kind of concert was happening. the best description i could think of was ‘kiddie rock concert”.

the girls loved loved loved it. they clapped and sang along with the songs they knew. they danced in aisles. ruby asked as we were leaving if dan zane could come to portland every friday night.

sorry sweetie- he just comes once a year , like santa.
