baby jie

a few months ago i got an email from my friend maureen about jie. maureen is a fellow adoptive mom who lives in california. a fellow nurse, she is very involved with helping kids in china who need medical care via an organization called love without boundaries. lwb does many things in china, among them heart surgery for kids.
jie was in need of heart surgery - soon. i took one look at her, and wanted to adopt her! she has such a great smile. since that isn't in the cards, i decided to help with her surgery. i sent a check the same day for her heart surgery fund. she had the same kind of heart defect that hazel had- a vsd, ventricular septal defect. a few days later i looked at her smile again and sent another check. i knew how much she needed the surgery, and how much her life would change as the result. i've finally managed to convince my dad that i don't need another something and my kids don't need another something so i was thrilled last christmas that he sent a donation to them instead of wrapping somethings up for us.my mom routinely donates to lwb for us- on birthdays, family days and christmas. i donate as often as i can , knowing what a difference it makes for kids who wait for surgery and wait for families. we also do "no gift" birthday parties and hope that people will donate to lwb instead. my kids know that they only get bday gifts from family.
now i get updates on jie every few weeks. she did well with her surgery and now is just being a kid. i can hardly wait until the update i get says that her file has gone to the ccaa for adoption. i
